Fatty Liver Disease
Fatty liver disease is a condition where excess fat builds up in the liver, affecting its ability to function properly. It often develops due to poor diet, obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol or even excessive alcohol use. There are two main types: non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which is not linked to alcohol and alcoholic fatty liver disease, which is caused by heavy drinking. In its early stages, fatty liver may not cause noticeable symptoms, but if left untreated, it can lead to inflammation, liver damage or even cirrhosis. With early diagnosis and lifestyle changes like healthy eating, regular exercise and weight loss, fatty liver disease can often be reversed or it can be effectively managed.
